| The name "Amazônia" in Brazil is originated from Amazon (the greek warrior women mithology). It is said that when Francisco de Orellana traveled the river in 1541 searching for gold, he faced the icamiabas women idians. These warrior women won the fight agaisnt the spanish invasors and king Carlos V, inspired by the "hititas" or "amazon" warrior women, named the river as "Amazon".  | |
